CONTEST RULES:

The contest is open to students ages 16-18 at the beginning of the 2014-2015 school term and live in Mississippi.
Entries must be typed, double-spaced and must not exceed 600 words.  Essays will be judged on content and writing ability (grammar, style, clarity). Possible themes include concrete’s benefits to society; how concrete affects the environment; and using concrete to build homes, commercial buildings, bridges or roads. Essays should demonstrate a student’s awareness of concrete’s role as a building material in homes, commercial buildings, streets and highways.

Prizes to be awarded: $500 – 1st place, $300 – 2nd place, and $200 – 3rd place. All entries become property of MCIA/NRMCA and we reserve the right to publish entries in whole or part.  The first place winner’s essay will be forwarded to NRMCA for consideration in the national contest. (Photos will be required for publicity purposes if chosen as the first place winner.) Winner of the national contest will be flown, along with a parent or guardian, to NRMCA’s convention in Orlando, Florida in March 2015.

Deadline for entries is Friday, October 31, 2014. Entry must be postmarked no later than this date.
