Learn how to: Finding qualified concrete flatwork finishers is always a concern on building projects, and can make the difference between a successful job and a disaster. MCIA recognizes this is one of the weakest areas in the concrete industry and is changing that by sponsoring the ACI Flatwork Certification program. A craftsman carrying an ACI Flatwork Certification is a person who is knowledgeable about proper concrete placement, consolidation, finishing, edging, jointing, curing, and testing procedures. They have also demonstrated a basic understanding of concrete technology, concrete materials, and mix designs. The American Concrete Institute recognizes individuals who demonstrate this knowledge by meeting ACI criteria. Those technicians are awarded certification in recognition of their skills. Individuals may seek certification in one of two different certification categories. The first level, ACI Flatwork Technician, can be received by passing a written examination. The second, ACI Flatwork Finisher, is awarded to individuals who pass a written test and can provide proof of work experience. Experienced concrete industry professionals approved by ACI teach the class offered by MCIA. Examine what the different certification categories require. Contact MCIA at 601-957-5274 if you are interested in becoming certified. *Note: This course is designed for the average working person. The exam may be taken orally if needed. Prior notification of oral exams must be given. Space is provided on the registration form to indicate that an oral exam is preferred. |
